Fisheries

EDI conducts a wide range of fisheries assessments, including:

• Fish and fish habitat assessment, mitigation, compensation and restoration
  
• Population estimates conducted through multi-pass electrofishing efforts, mark-recapture techniques, aerial counts, counting fences, outmigrant trapping and live-count indexing methods
  
• Determining fish distribution and species composition by backpack and boat electrofishing, seine and gill netting, radio telemetry, aerial surveying and angling
  
• Collection of biological characteristics including maturity, fecundity, length and weight, condition factor, diet preferences and aging structures such as scales, fin rays and otoliths
  
• Quality assessments of rearing, spawning, overwintering, migration and off-channel habitats as well as identification of significant or rare habitat features
  
• Digital (GPS) bathymetric mapping of lakes and large rivers.
