Fraser
River Bank Protection for Terasen Gas Pipeline, Prince George,
BC
EDI
was retained, on behalf of Terasen Gas Inc., to provide environmental
services for a bank stabilization project on the Fraser River,
near the northeastern boundary of the City of Prince George.
The rate of bank erosion at this point on the Fraser River
was threatening a pipeline right-of-way (ROW) containing two
natural gas pipelines owned and operated by Terasen. EDI prepared
an Environmental Management and Fish Compensation Plan to
identify potential environmental impacts of the proposed stabilization
works, measures to mitigate these anticipated impacts, and
fish habitat compensation measures required to offset the
fish habitat physically altered by the works. EDI also provided
environmental monitoring services for the construction phase
of this stabilization project.
Aquatic
and Environmental Assessment of Terasen Gas Pipeline Crossing
at Chicouyenily Creek, MacKenzie, BC
EDI
carried out an aquatic and environmental assessment, and prepared
a Proponent Application Plan for the upgrade of the Terasen
Gas Pipeline crossing on Chicouyenily Creek, a waterway approximately
5 km south of MacKenzie, BC. The assessment identified potential
environmental constraints of various design and construction
options, based on fisheries and aquatic habitat values found
at the site. This information was provided to assist Terasen
Gas in determining a preferred remediation method. EDI also
provided Environmental Monitoring during the construction
phase of the project.
Environmental
Mitigation for the Upgrade of the Shelly Road
EDI
completed a rehabilitation and habitat compensation plan for
the stream channel at a crossing of the Shelly Road in conjunction
with work by Duke Energy to remove several hazardous curves
from the road leading to pipeline access. EDI also provided
environmental monitors during the construction period.
Pipeline
Relocation on Fraser River Tributary, Prince George, BC
EDI
was retained by Duke Energy to provide assistance with the
relocation of a section of pipeline north of Prince George,
BC. EDI's role was to mitigate the loss of fish habitat that
was impacted by this work and liaise with Fisheries and Oceans
Canada staff to ensure that this project met federal standards.
Stream
Crossing Assessments on the Prophet River and Tributaries,
northeastern BC
EDI
was retained by Encana Oil and Gas Corporation Ltd. (formerly
Alberta Energy Corporation) to conduct fish habitat assessments
at several temporary crossings proposed on the Prophet River
and tributaries. A detailed report outlining key fish habitat
and sensitive areas was prepared.
